Student Leadership Programmes

Today’s sixth form students are tomorrow's leaders.  With this in mind we provide a variety of ways for our sixth form students to show their leadership potential.

Student mentoring

  • Post 16 students will be assigned a mentee (in lower school) who they would meet with once a week to discuss any issues or concerns they may have. This is an inspiring and powerful role, with students in lower school citing the valuable support that is given to them by their P16 mentor.

Student readers

  • At Outwood Grange Academy, we have excellent systems of support in place for literacy catch up. Post 16 students can support this by becoming reading buddies for lower school students. This would involve choosing and reading appropriate books with students in year 7 and 8 to allow them to develop their core literacy skills.

Supporting in lessons

  • For Post 16 students wishing to aspire to a career involving supporting others, they can work with teachers to plan and deliver lessons and support in lower school lessons. This role gives students the opportunity to experience working closely with others and providing additional support.

Sports leaders

  • Working with the PE department, students would take on responsibility for leading PE activities and after school sports activities.

Student Voice

  • In keeping with lower school students, Post 16 students will be offered the opportunity to participate in student voice programmes and shape the running of our Post 16 provision.
